Graduation 2017

UPDATES – WEEK OF JANUARY 29th

Goal 1: STUDENT SUCCESS:
JROTC Program of Accreditation Visit:
Similar to our recent one day WASC accreditation visit, Kapaa High’s JROTC program will be having their one day visit on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Visit will include classroom visits, review of the students’ portfolios, compliance checklist, cadet interviews and out briefing with administration. Our JROTC program continues to be an outstanding program and know we can count on everyone’s support.

GOAL 2: STAFF SUCCESS:
PLC Hui & Academy sharing @February EES Session:
Hui and Academy teams will be sharing highlights per best practices and other progress per this past 1st semester. Presentations will be about 20 minutes each followed by questions/answers. Schedules for PLC sharing are:
Wednesday, February 21, 2018: Hui Ikaika & Ideas Academy
Wednesday, February 28, 2018: Hui Onipa’a & Hopes Academy

Goal 3: SYSTEM SUCCESS:
Principal Away from School/Office:
I will be away from school/office from Monday, January 29th and returning week of February 12th. During this time, VP Tommy Cox will be the Acting Principal with the authority to carry out the full operations of the school.

Facilities Updates:
Science Renovations:
Bldgs. B, R & S: Installation work begins this week as the contractors will continue unloading and installing the cabinets/counter tops over the coming days. The last phase of deliveries will be for Bldg. S expected to be delivered sometime in early February. This will be followed our electricians, plumbers, and painters doing their final work. Upon completion, we will carry out the final inspections before officially accepting the work and having our teachers/students back into the classrooms.
CTE Renovations: While there are some minor touch-up work to address, renovation work for Bldg G is nearly completed. Expect the State DOE and Kapaa High to officially take back the building week very shortly. Renovations for D-102 and D-103 are progressing at a good pace with much of the major demolition work completed.
Play Court: Renovation work for our play court is scheduled for February beginning with the demolition of the court facilities followed with soil treatment, asphaltic concrete pavement, tennis court surfacing and new chain link fencing and gates. Anticipated completion date is around May/June.
