Graduation 2017

UPDATES -WEEK OF JANUARY 22nd

Goal 1: STUDENT SUCCESS:
ELL Assessments (Jan. 16th – Feb. 27th):
Reminder that our ELL students are currently taking the ACCESS assessment measuring their progress in reading, writing, listening and other literacy skills. Similar to the SBAC and EOC, the expectation for a quality testing environment must be honored. Appreciate everyone’ support as ELL Teacher Florita Rubio carries out this mandatory assessment to measure students’ growth.

GOAL 2: STAFF SUCCESS:
Welcome Diane Paleka:
Please welcome Diane Paleka as she officially begins as the new Hui Ikaika (grade 9) math teacher effective Monday, Jan. 22nd. Very pleased that Diane has agreed to join our faculty as she is highly qualified, well respected, and a positive impact for our students.

EES Session – January 24th:
Tentative agenda for this Wednesday’s ESS session includes presenters Ikaika Perreira, Teacher for the Visually Impaired and Nichole Zirzow, Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. They will be presenting information on vision and hearing disabilities because we have both of these disabilities on our campus, the most recent being our completely blind student who is currently in two general education classes and two life skills classes. There are several students with hearing impairments on our campus (SPED and non-SPED) and important that teachers have an overview of hearing and vision disabilities, classroom strategies and other services provided. Also, we’ll be meeting/hearing from our new faculty members.

PLC Hui & Academy sharing @February EES Session:
Hui and Academy teams will be sharing highlights per best practices and other progress per this past 1st semester. Presentations will be about 20 minutes each followed by questions/answers. Schedule for PLC sharing are:
Wednesday, February 21, 2018: Hui Ikaika & Ideas Academy
Wednesday, February 28, 2018: Hui Onipa’a & Hopes Academy

Goal 3: SYSTEM SUCCESS:
Facilities Updates:
Science Renovations:
Bldgs. B & R: Delivery of about seven containers with cabinets and counter tops are expected to arrive on campus this week after being delay on the east coast due to the winter storm. Containers for Bldg. S is expected in early February.
CTE Renovations: Final inspection for Bldg. G is set for Wednesday, January 24th. Not anticipating any major problems per the “punch list” and hopeful we can officially take over the facility by the end of the week. If you want to see the effectiveness of an educator, you do not look at what the teacher is doing but at the learners whom they serve. InnovatorsMindset
