Graduation 2017

UPDATES – WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 25th

GOAL 1:   STUDENT SUCCESS:
Student Support Practices:
Appreciate the open sharing at our last EES session.  Performance results  reflects our efforts for SY 2016-17 and also re-sharing our base-line effective SY 2017 that all school’s must attain.  (ELA – 51% (already met benchmark);  Math – 42% & Science – 43%).   As a 4 X 4 block schedule school, our teachers teach their content classes twice within a calendar year meaning that alignment, common assessments, and support system should be in place.   Thus our baseline standard benchmark of 50% benchmark for math and science is achievable.

Firmly believe that literacy practices remain key to student success through content rich nonfiction reading , writing, and speaking grounded in evidence from text (both literary and informational) and having regular practice with complex text and academic language.  Every student here at Kapaa High needs to be immersed in purposeful reading and writing averaging about two hours per day especially for college and post-high school success.

GOAL 2:   STAFF SUCCESS:
Submittal of Leave Forms:
Per a recent audit addressing leaves, reminding all staff to submit your leave forms in a timely manner.   Audit showed that there were staff members continuing to submit their leave forms late (often a week/weeks) after returning to work.  The audit requires our office (Ingrid & Leila) to ensure that all employees submit their leave forms in a timely manner.  In terms of personal leaves, reminder that requests must be submitted in advance.  Should anyone have questions about the process, please see administration or office staff.

Revised Certificated List:
Attached is an updated list of faculty members.  Feel free to print and post.

Goal 3: SYSTEM SUCCESS:
WASC Accreditation Mid-term Visit:
Per the attached, there will be two members doing our mid-terms visit review on November 7th.  Chair Principal Elden Esmeralda and Teacher/Curriculum Coordinator Robin Kitsu continue to coordinate for the visitation with administration.
