Graduation 2017

UPDATES – WEEK OF MAY 8th

GOAL 1:   STUDENT SUCCESS:
Senior Project Presentations:
Thank you for supporting our seniors as they share their Senior Projects on Wednesday, May 10th.

Remaining Focused:
Re-sharing the importance to remain focused.  Students need that consistent learning environment as no instructional day should be considered unimportant or expendable.  These last school days are just as important as the first days and have an enormous impact upon a student’s impression of a course and teacher.  Your efforts, hard work and achievement for SY 2016-17 can be dissipated in the final days of a semester if these next few weeks are devoted to idleness or frivolous instruction.  Thanks to our Hui/Academy leaders and VPs in having worked with their teams planning for culminating learning activities.   Appreciate everyone’s commitment to make the end as relevant as the beginning.

GOAL 2:   STAFF SUCCESS:
EES Session: – Wednesday, May 10th:
Reminder that Wednesday’s EES time will be used to support the Senior Project presentations.  We will also be on an assembly schedule.

Classroom Renovation Support:
Please support our teachers whose rooms will be renovated this summer by saving boxes for packing purposes.  Feel free to send to them directly or ask the custodians for help.

Goal 3: SYSTEM SUCCESS:
Monitoring students’ phones and classroom computers:
Our Complex Area and State technology office are helping monitor our school’s inbound technology flow due to the unusually high rate of down loads happening during instructional (especially morning) periods.  This does not pertain to the use of Google, Achieve3000,  Infinite campus, etc.  Of concern are the huge bit rates downloads dealing with Netflix, Youtube, video streaming, itunes, etc. happening during instructional time.  Due to concerns of misuse and possible lack of monitoring, our school-wide bit rate use will continue to be monitored and possible targeted classroom visits carried out.  Teachers are reminded to review their classroom rules addressing use of phones, to hold students accountable,  and to be sure to inform their substitutes when absent.  Administration will discuss in more detail at Friday’s Hui/Academy leadership meeting.

Hui/Academy Leadership Meeting:
Would like to have our last Hui/Academy leadership meeting on Friday, May 12th @2:30 p.m. in I-102.  Discussions will focus on end of year as well as the opening of next school year items.  Realize that there’s much happening at this time of the year and would like to discuss staffing, student enrollment projections, master schedule, technology, etc., before we have our final faculty get together on May 24th.
