Graduation 2017

UPDATES – WEEK OF MAY 1st

GOAL 1:   STUDENT SUCCESS:
Warrior JROTC Annual Celebration and Awards Banquet:
Congratulations to our JROTC students for a successful school year and especially for a wonderful awards banquet this past Saturday.  The many local, national, and special awards earned, speaks directly to the outstanding students’ work under the leadership of both Col. Levoit and Sgt. Verasammy.   Perhaps the strongest validation was earlier this year as Kapaa High’s JROTC program accreditation review received a scored above 98%…..an achievement very few JROTC programs can claim too.  Awesome Job!

Remaining Focused:
With 20 instructional days remaining (15 days for seniors), let’s ensure that every classroom reflects continued rigorous instruction.  Students need that consistent challenging academic learning environment as no instructional day should be considered unimportant or expendable.  As shared, the last school days are just as important as the first days and have an enormous impact upon a student’s impression of a course and teacher.  Truly believe that your efforts and achievement of our school can be dissipated in the final days of a semester if those days are devoted to idleness or frivolous instruction.  Hui/Academy leaders and VPs have shared plans about the culminating learning activities during the last school days.  Appreciate everyone’s commitment to make the end as relevant as the beginning.

GOAL 2:   STAFF SUCCESS:
EES Session: – Wednesday, May 3rd:
Our next EES session will focus on “Student Support” facilitated by  RT – Heidi Aceret & VPs including other discussions addressing senior projects (May 10th), graduation (May 19th), etc.  Final agenda will be shared shortly.

Goal 3: SYSTEM SUCCESS:
May Day Program – May 2nd:
Reminder that we will be on an assembly bell schedule for Tuesday’s May Day program.  Teachers are also reminded to be extra aware in monitoring students’ behaviors due to the expected numbers of community/family members at the assembly.

Hawaii Dept. of Education’s Strategic Plans:
Communications Specialist – Donalyn Dela Cruz and her staff put together two videos providing good information on our Strategic Plan (SY 2017 – 20).  Videos are very useful toward informing our faculty/staff, students, community stakeholders and community at large.  Should anyone be considering grant applications, utilizing & sharing this information will certainly help your efforts.
